We headed to the Native Hotel in Malibu to capture three talented and unique artists from the Los Angeles Songwriters Collective rocking nostalgic pieces from our limited "Made in L.A." collection inspired by our original '90s designs. LASC's mission is to bring like-minded creatives together, allowing them to connect, grow, and create! Take a peek behind the scenes of our photo shoot and read on to see what Troy Baker of Window to the Abbey, LeyeT, and Jessica Childress had to say about music, collection faves, and more.

What does being made in L.A. mean to you?
A badge of honour that proudly displays the advantages and disadvantages, the strengths and weaknesses of being an Angeleno.
How old were you when you discovered music was your passion?
Can't remember exactly, but I'm going to say 6 months.
What's some of your favorite L.A. hidden gems?
I miss Backstage Cafe which was a dive bar run by Ian Copeland (Stuart's older brother). It was this seedy blight smack in the middle of Rodeo Dr. in Beverly Hills. It closed down shortly after he died. A lot of my favourite haunts have since gone by the wayside. I'm always open to recos.

Tell us about one of your most memorable performances?
The most memorable is one that happened very recently—my debut show as LeyeT at The Peppermint Club. The room was electric, filled to the brim with love and energy, and hearing people sing back my lyrics for the first time like that was unforgettable. I can’t describe that night as anything less than joyous and pretty much perfect.
Where do you go in California to be inspired?
I usually go outdoors to feel inspired whether that be the beach or the mountains…we’re lucky to have both to venture to. When I start feeling run down, there is nothing like taking a hike or going on a camping trip to breathe in fresh air and inspiration.

What’s the most influential thing about being a part of LASC?
I absolutely adore LASC and it is such a gift to be a part of it. The most influential thing for me is the community, the energy that fills the room when we meet together and the leveling of the playing field that establishes us all as one regardless of background and career level. Being a part of LASC is about connecting with others who share the same passion and joy for music and creativity, to enjoy each other, support each other and to build real relationships free of ulterior motives.

How has music impacted your life?
For me, music is my life. There’s no part of my life that’s not touched by music. It’s therapy and meditation and the way I make sense of life.
Tell us your thoughts about our current collection and some of your favorite pieces from the shoot?
It feels really organic and effortless and comfortable. It’s cool without trying. It really capitalizes on the casual-chic vibe of L.A. My favorite piece from the shoot is the denim jacket. The fit is oversized and slouchy. I also love the t-shirts! I actually really love the tees from the men’s collection.
If you could collaborate on a song with anyone, who would it be and why?
Janelle Monae. I think she’s so innovative and cool. She pushes boundaries on genres and visuals. She’s also the most stunning human being and I want to verify that she is indeed a human being.
